Description
Teams help to segregate groups of users further.
You can assign team permissions to your dashboards and add/remove users from the teams instead without needing to go into each individual dashboard and reassign/add/remove particular user permissions each time.
Team permissions are also accumulative. E.g., if in a dashboard you assign a team the Edit permission, but you have a specific user in that team set with the View role, then that user will be able to edit that dashboard.

Note that making changes to permissions can take a minute before that permission is reflected in the end users UI.
